Axel is a proper medium sized german shepherd male, dark (black) sable with red undertones in color. Pictures just do not do him justice. You would need to see him in person to appreicate him fully. Axel has sired two previous litters. One puppy is started in Schutzhund work and shows great prey drive and promise. One of his progeny is now a Sheriff's dog working Narcotics Detection! The rest of the puppies went to homes as companions, though most had working potential. Puppy buyers rave to me about the intelligence of their puppy and how often they get complimented on their puppy's looks.
Axel is in training again after about a 2 year hiatus due to my loss of my daughter Sarah at 3 months and the following twin pregnancy. He has picked up right where he left off in training for AKC Obedience and we hope to have his obed titles completed in 2008 (CD and CDX). He has one leg of his AKC CD in which he took second place.
Axel has a great work ethic and great personality. He is a wonderful companion and is a strong and confident dog. In SchH his bites are full and hard with NO chewing. His bite has been like this since he was a 12 week old puppy! Axel is wonderful around people and children (I have a 9 yr old daughter too). He will say hello to you and he is no longer concerned. He is a one person dog but gets along with anyone he is told to get along with. He has the brains to know when we are hanging out with friends and family and when we are training for SchH and when there is a serious threat to his family. He is not "high-strung" and is calm in the house (unless we want to play!). Axel is a willing and wanting worker and loves his jobs. He passes on this confidence and happy attitude to his pups. His puppies should be suitable for Schutzhund work, Obedience, Agility, SAR and wonderful pet homes.
